Offering a treatment appropriate for a graduate-level course in Lie groups and Lie algebras, Hossein (Max Planck Institute for Math, Germany) and Moskowitz (City U. of New York) have excluded some subjects, among them the theory of faithful represntation, classification of the complex cimple Lie algebras, universal enveloping algebra, weyl character formula, and branching theorems. Students would be well served by a graduate course in topology first. The book includes exercises (no answers). Thorough indexing makes the text useful as a reference as well as a coursebook.
