A lot of people think the banks will never die as they have franchises and government regulation to protect them. However, a lot of people also thought that bookstores would never die and of course; now they have almost vanished from our lives. Though, of course, banking is slightly different, so this is the question that we are endeavoring to answer. Because of all the innovation and finance, we see the massive run-up in investment in FinTech and there is VC investment in FinTech startups now. Though in comparison this is a small percentage of the investment with respect to legacy banking institutions, we can still say that they succeeded in putting a dent in their well-protected walls. These new FinTech startups forced these financial institutions to aggressively investing in technology in order to transform their businesses. If you look at banks, every single piece of functionality that you currently do, from mortgages and payments and credit provisioning to checking and payments, are all under attack from the FinTech startups.
