Over the years, various fire companies were formed. From hand-drawn to horse-drawn to motorized equipment, and from loosely organized volunteers to highly professional career firefighters, the Willimantic Fire Department has provided citizens with skilled, trained, and compassionate service. Through photographs, memorabilia, and stories--the majority of which were collected by the firefighters themselves--Firefighting in Willimantic recognizes the traditions and accomplishments of this outstanding department.
