From a large family navigating abject poverty and a crisis of faith in the deep southern US of the early nineteen hundreds, to the tale of a juvenile boy on the other side of the century as he is first exposed to the brutality of violence and the lack of control that might just come with adulthood, to the harsh reality of an unfair nation and the impact it has on the innocent mind of a tenderhearted young woman, to the complete unravelling of one middle-aged man trying to cope and find individuality in the contemporary workforce of the big city, THE FIREFLY KING is the broad and ambitious work of a writer attempting to engage with the progressions and challenges of living and dying in the modern age, and of trying to find hope along the way, however dismal, outlandish, and ridiculous it may seem.
