He reflects on his obscure life during the trial. Nurse Jasper Smith admits to knowing Byron in high school, when she takes the witness stand. In her mind, he avoided associating with her because she is a dark skin black female and he, another uppity "High Yellow Nigga!" but when a verbal altercation takes place between them during nightshift, a side of him is revealed that she never knew existed. Nurse Martha Gaza has been in love with Pastor Wesley Jamison Jr. since they were children. Growing up in a Latino household, she grew to appreciate herself as a Hispanic female but when a family secret is uncovered, it may push her over the edge.
