1955.
Sisters Freyja and Jeanie MacAulay live an idyllic life on the Orkney island of Falun.

Freyja tries everything to stop her leaving, but one day she watches from her bedroom window as Jeanie walks along their track, waves at her, then disappears.
She never comes back.
Nine years later, aged eighteen, Freyja's life is once again turned upside down.
She falls in love with visiting Norwegian composer, Magnus Olafson, but their relationship releases memories of her past with Jeanie that she'd rather remained hidden and Freyja breaks down.
Now, having been incarcerated in a mental asylum for the past eighteen years, Freyja has a visitor and she must reveal the truth about Jeanie's disappearance.
