To escape these voices, he travels to different times in the checkered history of Debouton "Boonetown" Alabama. He follows the Boones and an entity referred to as "The Piper" and finds himself confronted by elements of the supernatural. He also discovers that these "travels" are not dreams in the traditional sense and that he has the power to change that particular part of the past he inhabits. As each new piece is uncovered he comes to the realization that the Piper has an agenda, and time is wasting.
