The idea was not really serious. In the beginning things went well. Their trip to the Holy Land to obtain the genetic material was both successful and fun, despite what happened while in Jerusalem. The result was that the Project succeeded, but in a way the men could never have foreseen. For this success they paid a terrible price, but the true catastrophic consequences lay fully 35 years in the future.
