At seventeen, Violet has a deep connection with Simon, her slightly older, very much married boss. Carrying the weight of an adult, possessing an old soul, Violet still retains her innocence and, in navigating the preciousness of her first love affair, she doesn't understand the subtleties of Simon's expression of love. Complications arise, in the form of Violet's mother, and Simon's confusing feelings. They are gently and equally matched, and yet, everything and everyone works against their union.
